Genetics, Genomics, and Informatics

Overview

The Genetics, Genomics, and Informatics Core (GGIC) provides comprehensive support to IDDRC and UCLA Investigators for the application of genetic and genomic analyses to their basic, translational, and/or clinical research projects studying intellectual and developmental disorders. 
 
The explosion of next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based methods has necessitated advanced computational infrastructure and bioinformatic expertise for the analysis and interpretation of sequencing data. The GGIC provides a key resource to the IDDRC and UCLA research community, by providing broad assistance with experimental design, data acquisition (through affiliated UCLA core sequencing facilities), analysis, interpretation, and publication of high-throughput profiling across sequence (genetic), gene expression (transcriptomic) and epigenetic (genomics) levels of investigation. Support from the GGIC is highly customized and specific to the needs of individual investigators, ranging from simple consultations to assistance with basic and/or advanced genetic/genomic studies, spanning both clinical cohorts for translational studies and experimental models for basic research. 
 
The GGIC has a dedicated track-record applying state-of-the-art analytical methods to analyze whole genome and exome sequencing data (WGS/WES) as well as chromosomal microarray (CMA) and polygenic risk scores (PRS) in clinical cohorts; bulk and single-cell/nucleus RNA-seq in mouse and human tissues; as well as chromatin accessibility (e.g., ATAC-seq) and methylation profiles. Resulting datasets will be hosted in our custom REPAIR database accessible to IDDRC investigators, facilitating data sharing and collaborative analyses.
