Project Scientists
Sandra Holley, Ph.D.
Assistant Project Scientist
Ph.D. (Cornell University, 2008), where she studied mechanisms of glutamate receptor activation with Dr. Linda Nowak.
She investigates synaptic alterations in transgenic mouse models of neurological diseases using slice electrophysiological techniques combined with optogenetics.
Dr. Holley has a passion for figuring out how neurons and synaptic networks are affected in brain diseases.

Josh Barry, Ph.D.
Assistant Project Scientist
Ph.D. (Ohio State University)
Joshua is focused on two main projects using a variety of Huntington’s Disease mouse models. One examines striatal communication to output structures (external globus pallidus and substantia nigra pars reticulata).
The other uses miniaturized microscopes and calcium imaging to examine neuronal activity in freely moving mice.

Undergrads
Minh Bui
Minh is a second year Neuroscience major and Biomedical Research minor.
Theresa D'Silva
Theresa is a first-year student majoring in Neuroscience. Her passion for research started as a lab intern at the Meshul Lab in Portland VA Medical Center and continues to expand at the Cepeda–Levine lab. She feels privileged to serve the UCLA community as a member of UCLA Alumni Scholars Club and the Neuroscience Undergraduate Society. In her free time, she enjoys reading, music, and running.
Bobbi Matthews
Bobbi is a third year neuroscience major from the San Fernando Valley who has been in the lab since June 2019. She plans on going to graduate school for her PhD in neuroscience after taking a gap year working at the Levine–Cepeda Lab.
She is on the executive board for Neuroscience Undergraduate Society at UCLA and loves all things neuroscience.
